Have you ever seen a Atlantic salmon above 20 kg? If not then please take a look at this video made by Eilif Eckhoff, who visit is in 2017. The movie shows the skilled angler Johannes catching his biggest salmon ever.
Soon the salmon season will begin, and we are looking forward to this season. The whole staff are ready to welcome the first guest from Iceland 1 of June and it is gonna be intersting to see if they will get the first salmon of the season. We have some upgrades for this season with a new drying room and a new roof over the terrace at the main lodge. We have a very few rods available for 2019, and many weeks are already booked for 2020. Experienced guide joins the team at top Norwegian fly fishing lodge Well-known fly fishing industry guide René Gerken has joined the team at Olderø Fly Fishing Lodge – a lodge on the Lakselv River in northern Norway, which is well regarded as a Mecca for serious salmon anglers. René becomes Olderø’s new Camp Manager for 2019 after working at Olderø as a part-time guide for the last four years with a lot of success. From May 1st 2019, René will be responsible for the lodge, staff and the fishing, so guests will get the best possible experience during their stay. René comes from a job at Atlantik & Diana Fishing Tours in Denmark, where he was the leading sales agent and also worked as a tour leader to destinations around the world. At Atlantik he handled all the bookings, and René will continue to do the same work with future guests for the Olderø Fly Fishing Lodge. René also previously worked as a guide at the West Ranga River Lodge – which is operated by Olderø’s owner Heggøy Aktiv AS – and many other rivers in Iceland for four seasons. He is one of the few guides in Scandinavia who is a Master and Two-Handed casting instructor in the FFI. René also has five years of experience working in a tackle store in Denmark, where he attained a great knowledge of modern and traditional fly fishing tackle. “There’s no doubt that Rene is the right person for the job, and I am very pleased that we now again have the ultimate staff set-up for the Olderø fly fishing lodge,” said Henrik Kassow Andersen, CEO for Heggøy Aktiv AS. “I’ve worked with Rene before and besides being one of the most skilled fly fishers I know, he’s a highly talented guide with a great understanding of his costumers’ needs." René himself added: “I am so happy that I have been given the chance to run a place like Olderø Fly Fishing Logde. I am very much looking forward to meeting our guests and I will do my best to help them to have a great experience when they visit us in pursuit of what most salmon anglers dream about: to catch the 40 pounder salmon or even bigger fish of a lifetime, which certainly is possible on our waters.” About Olderø fly fishing Lodge: The Olderø fly fishing Lodge is considered one of the best in Norway and functions as a hotel for Northern Lights tourism out of the salmon season. Still fresh fish running on Olderøen, this is a 14 lbs fish from the research fishing we did last week... The lodge is now locked down for the winter and we want to use the opportunity to say thank you to all our guest who stayed on Olderøen this season, it was great having you in our lodge, always nice to close down the season with so many guest´s rebooking for the next season´s we really appreciate the trust you are showing us to take care about your fishing trip in the future - Also we will like to say a big thank you to all in our staff Gummi, Ingi Por, Jon, Haukur, Rene, Christian, Roy and Siv, you all did a fantastic job, everybody who stayed at the lodge saw all the work the staff did this year to make our gusts stay on Olderøen unforgettable, we are so lucky and blessed to have such a great staff and we are looking forward to see you all again next year, we could never had done it without you guys.
